A zine is a self published booklet made into many forms, pages and sizes. You can write and draw anything into a zine. Hand written, type writer and also the computer even embellishments.
Fanzines (originally called Fan Mags) came about in the 1930s where science fiction clubs would produce them with SF stuff and they were a networking mag of letters and gossip from all SF club members and the more SF clubs multiplied the more fanzines appeared.
The sixties bought zines into a political era where would express themselves about life particular drugs, rock music and the Vietnam war.
There is different eras where zines were out in full force. Some have dated back to the 18th century.
Zines have become popular today and not only the youth buy them or publish them.
